The Danish painter Einar Wegener had an operation to change from a man to a woman in the 1930s. A sensation at that time, not only of a medical but also of a social nature. And today, in the 21st century?
About
There is talk that the rights of trans people in Europe are on a good legal and social path, but at the same time there are countries like Poland, Hungary, Brazil that question or negate these rights again and again, and here in Germany it is still a controversial topic. For example, the assessment guideline of the health insurance companies first prescribes psychotherapy in order to start medical treatment as a transgender person.
With Lili Elbe - Two Times Life - Colture Company launches an experiment in bringing culture digitally to the stage. The artists are spread from Prague to Heidelberg and form a digital unit to bring the work to the stage.
"We want to sensitise the audience to the life stories and many more people out there and at the same time show that culture is not death, but still possible," says Stephan Bestier, director and founder of Colture Company. Just "two times life" both as an individual and in the form of art.
