The programe will open the director of Arquiteturas Film Festival Sofia Mourato. She will present the concept of the festival and "Up and Down Galata" by Cagan Duran and Ali Uluç Kutal (2015/Turkey/80 min)
Synopsis
Librairie de Pera was one of the oldest bookstores of Istanbul. Located in the neighbourhood of Galata, the shop was a beacon of the region’s cosmopolitan culture for almost a century. In 2013, the bookstore closed as a result of an ongoing urban transformation. Through the story of the bookstore and the testimony of local artisans, shop owners, and daily workers, trace how the demography of Galata has changed over time.
