Es ist ein schmaler Grat zwischen Natur und Kultur. Er verläuft zwischen versöhnlichem Moment, Überfall und Emanzipation. Als antagonistische Positionen betrachtet, ist es egal, ob eine gerade in Kampfeslust verharrt oder sich auf Verträglichkeit beruft - die Resultate dieser Auseinandersetzungen sind es, die unser Dasein auf diesem Planeten bestimmen, von den Anfängen zum Alltäglichen. Während einerseits technische Entwicklungen ursprüngliche Materialien ihrer naturhaften Qualitäten beraubt, wie Eisen oder Stein ihrer Härte, so zerstören andererseits Vulkanausbrüche am nächsten Tag hunderte Jahre an mühsam erarbeiteter Kulturgeschichte. Während Natur durch ihre Schönheit besticht, schafft Kultur ihre eigenen Gesetzmäßigkeiten von Ästhetik und Funktionalität, das Drama entsteht erst im Aufeinandertreffen von Gemachtem und Nicht-Gemachten.

So unterschiedlich wie die Erscheinungsformen dieser Aufeinandertreffen, so ungleich sind auch die grundlegenden Ideen, bildnerischen Ansätze, künstlerischen Prozesse und Materialien der hier ausgestellten Werke. Eine Reise vom Flug von Mosquitos über die Domestikation von Pflanzen, vom archaischen Kampf ums Überleben bis hin zu den Schattenseiten der Kultur - der Bürokratie, oder, mit Adorno: „Wer Kultur sagt, sagt auch Verwaltung.“ Nicht umsonst findet die Ausstellung an einem Ort statt, welcher ursprünglich nichts anderes als ein Arbeitsamt hätte werden sollen. Der Eintritt ist frei.

There is a fine line between nature and culture. It runs along intervals of conciliation, attack and emancipation. Antagonistic confrontations between the two sides maintain that it is of no matter whether one in combat stands their ground, or gives in. It is instead the results of these conflicts that dictate our everyday life, development, and existence on this planet. While the development of technology strips natural ressources of their essential properties, like iron or stone of their hardness,  volcanic eruptions destroy hundreds of years of painstakingly developed cultural history the very next day. Nature captivates us with its beauty, while culture creates its own laws of aesthetics and functionality. This theatre first arises in the clashes between the fabricated and the non-fabricated. 

The essential ideas, visual approaches, artistic processes and materials of the exhibited works, are just as different as what manifests from these hostilities. Works journey from the primordial mosquito swarms, through the domestication of plants, the archaic struggle of survival, as well as to the dark side of our cultural world, bureaucracy, or as put by Adorno, "Who says culture, also says administration". It is lastly worthwhile to consider that the exhibition is held in a space that was originally intended to be a job center. Entrance is free.
