The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize, formerly the Jerwood Drawing Prize, is the largest and longest-running annual open exhibition for drawing in the UK

About

Selected from original drawings, the exhibition has established a reputation for its commitment to championing excellence and to promoting, celebrating and challenging contemporary drawing practice. The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2018 exhibition includes a diverse selection of work which explores the nature, role and value of drawing in creative practice today. The shortlist of 69 drawings by 67 practitioners - ranging from students to established artists - were selected from 1,703 submissions received from across the UK. The independent selection panel comprised Nigel Hall RA, artist; Megan Piper, contemporary art dealer; and Chris Stephens, Director of the Holburne Museum in Bath.

Following the launch of the Prize at Trinity Buoy Wharf in September 2018 and the conclusion of the first stage of its national tour at TheGallery, Arts University Bournemouth, the Prize will be on display at the Royal Drawing School, Shoreditch from 4 – 21 February 2019. The Royal Drawing School’s large contemporary gallery hosts a range of exhibitions throughout the year including a major showcase of their postgraduate students’ artworks, an annual Young Artists Exhibition, and shows featuring work by postgraduate Alumni and RDS faculty members. Whilst on display at the Royal Drawing School, the exhibition will be supported by a rich and varied events programme comprised of talks, workshops and opportunities to meet the exhibiting artists.
