Tribal living remained unchanged for thousands of years, but Western influences are rapidly affecting this. If we don’t act to protect these tribes' way of life, such images may be all we have left
About
Southend based digital photographer Terry Mendoza was originally an optometrist and has been interested in photography since school. Twenty years ago he began photographing fashion, working with various retro-inspired editorial clients. He quickly realised his passion was for photographing people.
For the last five years he has been honing documentary photojournalistic skills with this tribal project. His trips have taken him well off the beaten track to various African countries, camping in remote regions, travelling barely used tracks or dry river beds to visit tribes, for many this is their first encounter with a white face!
He feels privileged to have spent time getting to know these people and wants to share the emotional connection he has had with these people, their sheer beauty and dignity.
