Triad brings together the work of Yevgeniya Baras, Mike Cloud, and Zachary Wollard, all 2015-16 residents of the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program.

In the painterly practices of each, notions of iconography, history, language and material coalesce in startlingly personal ways, offering a refreshing take on discourses surrounding contemporary painting, community and inner worlds.

Yevgeniya Baras is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Yevgeniya has a BA and MS from the University of Pennsylvania (2003) and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2007). Yevgeniya’s work has been exhibited at numerous galleries in New York including: Steven Harvey Fine Art Projects, Kinz + Tillou Fine Art, Zurcher Studio, Asya Geisberg Gallery, Allegra LaViola Gallery. Yevgeniya received the Artadia Prize and was selected for the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program and the MacDowell Colony residency in 2015. In 2014 she was named the recipient of the Rema Hort Mann Foundation’s Emerging Artist Prize. Six and a half years ago Yevgeniya co-founded Regina Rex Gallery in Bushwick, NY. The gallery has moved from Bushwick to Lower East side in the fall of 2014. Yevgeniya is represented by Nicelle Beauchene Gallery. www.yevgueniyabaras.com

Mike Cloud is New York based painter who's work examines the conditions of painting in its contemporary life among countless reproductions, symbols and descriptions. Cloud earned his MFA from Yale University and BFA from the University of Illinois Chicago. His work has been exhibited at MoMA P.S.1, Marianne Boesky Gallery, White Columns, Max Protetch, Apexart, and The Studio Museum in Harlem. Cloud has been reviewed in the New York Times, Art in America, Art Review and featured in Painting Abstraction, Phaidon Press (2009). He is currently an Assistant Professor at Brooklyn College. www.mikecloudart.com
