TREEHOUSE is an exhibition by a collection of young artists based in S/E London.
About
TREEHOUSE investigates relationships between the natural world and how we find our own domestic dwellings within it.
As trees’ lives extend further than our own by generations, they provide for far more than just themselves. In this exhibition, stand in our imaginary treehouse and feel a presence from our arboreal neighbours that is sometimes missed in London.
The works span an extensive range of mediums in response to this subject, from use of direct materials from the land to drawings, painting, sculpture, performance, and photography.
In TREEHOUSE, the artists have pooled their work together for Safehouse 1, a gutted Victorian terraced house that has been left uninhabited. The dark, cool rooms are reminiscent of a burrow or den, with traces of years of previous human settlement. The works nestle into the nooks and crannies of the house and act as temporary residents ....
Exhibition co-curated by Alice Calvert and Elsa Money.
