By bringing poetic images and visual imagery through divergent paths, the exhibition focuses on unknown, unexperienced, unpredictable combinations.

Tree, Simulacrum, Sea, Moon takes its cue from the poem Bir Şehri Bırakmak (Leaving A City) by Oktay Rifat:

“Tell the tree
To bring me its shadow for the road
I also want the street and sea through the window
And rolls from you
Shaped like the moon”

Taking this poem and other works by Oktay Rifat as a point of departure, the exhibition aims to bring text and visual arts together. Poetry, which is one of the most effective tools of communication for people, is inspired by intense emotions that cannot immediately be understood and articulated as in the visual arts. To read a poem is an endeavor with an unclear goal, as is the case with looking at a video work. The exhibition, Tree, Simulacrum, Sea, Moon, brings together contemporary art works, which have all been produced through digital techniques at the Haunted Mansion; and, first and foremost offers a new perspective for viewers.
