Debut solo show from Penelope Kenny

About

Penelope Kenny showcases her first ever solo show in the unique surroundings of The Crate Gallery, Notting Hill. Transgenic Cabinet is an exhibition of beautiful, delicately crafted screenprints that explore the relationship between humans and other animals. The work comments on and satirizes our attempts through history to classify, modify and control nature, in the name of reason and rationality. Influenced by natural history illustration and taxidermy, Penelope's characteristic hybrid creatures reveal the potential outcomes of human intervention in evolution through genetic manipulation and scientific tampering with the species boundaries. A graduate in Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Brighton, Penelope prints all her own work and editions using hand-mixed metallic inks, pure pigments and pearlescent glazes. Penelope's works are becoming increasingly popular and collectable, with further shows this year scheduled both in the UK and internationally including London, New York and Kyoto.
