RIBOT is pleased to present, as second in a series of TRANSFORMER projects, Cuarto Paso curated by Fabio Carnaghi, solo show by the mexican artist Calixto Ramírez that shows an unpublished performance - specifically conceived for the gallery space – and recent videos

About

TRANSFORMER is an observatory where it’s possible to watch beyond the expositive limits in order of space and time. RIBOT inaugurates unconventional experiences in the Gallery’s programme. Day and night, due to possibility to see 24/24 hours the space by gallery windows, become a scenario for changeable exhibitions that disclose an across-the-board vision by the alternation light / dark.

TRANSFORMER activates new perspectives to exhibit not as dogmatic act but as phenomenon manifold and generative. The exhibitions, part of TRANSFORMER, and included extempore in the gallery programme, can be seen day and night according to the events.

RIBOT is pleased to present, as second in a series of TRANSFORMER projects, Cuarto Paso curated by Fabio Carnaghi, solo show by the mexican artist Calixto Ramírez (Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, 1980; he lives and works in Rome) that shows an unpublished performance - specifically conceived for the gallery space – and recent videos.

The Calixto Ramírez research explores the connection between body and his temporary habitat. The artist lives personally his performances that result in a gesture plain and concise, recorded by short videos capturing the instant of the action.

Cuarto Paso concludes a series of events that drawn attention to nomadism, fundamentals in Ramírez practice, therefore, the journey becomes itself construction of the artistic process.

Both videos, Primavera and Otoño, will be present in the gallery, in addition to the new performance entitled Aquì that will be premiered in this occasion. The exhibition project reflects completely on the topic of the time as a continuous cycle of time objective and subjective, exterior and interior, dynamic and static.

“Since the beginning, the Cuatro Pasos project – as Ramírez says - was thought to present works that have a relationship with the city where they are exhibited. Milan is the cradle of Futurism, a movement linked among other things to speed. In this last Paso, the idea of time becomes present not only because the titles of the pieces clearly refer to it, but after just over hundred years since the beginning of this movement, it’s necessary to slow down or simply think of time in another way”.
