AboutTranscending Boundaries, the UK's largest selling West African art exhibition, presented by Aabru Art in London, has announced its second annual exhibition following a hugely successful near sell-out inaugural show in 2013.
The pioneering exhibition will once again celebrate excellence in West African Contemporary art and illustrate the growing popularity in contemporary art from the region. Taking place at London's Mall Galleries for the first time, this diverse and
vibrant showcase will allow both collectors and the public the opportunity to see and buy previously unseen art by West Africa's leading artists.
Eleven leading artists, all of whom are revered in their home countries, are bringing world premières of their work to the five-day exhibition. Exquisite art, ranging from elegant wood sculptures by Reuben Ugbine and photo-realistic oil paintings by Abiodun Olaku through to intricate metal work that resembles leather by Fidelis Odogwu and bold, colourful works by Edosa Ogiugo, will be available for purchase.
All of the work on display draws on West Africa's heritage for inspiration with prices ranging from £3,000 - £30,000.
Transcending Boundaries 2014 also has a full programme of educational events available to the public between 17 - 22 March. Artist tours and panel discussions with Biyi Bandele (Director of Half of a Yellow Sun), Chris Spring (British Museum), Nkem Ifejika (Business Journalist), Giles Peppiatt (Bonhams) and Abiodun Olaku (West African Artist and Founder of the Guild of Fine Arts) will take place at the Mall Galleries.
