About

Varley works across a range of media, including film, writing, painting and collage. His work often plays on malfunctioning speech or typographies to reveal the arbitrariness of the shapes and sounds that make up language. Continuing these themes, Varley's new work for Tramway draws on research into the human voice, synchronicity, rap music, colour theory and perceptual phenomena.
