About

Each day she gets up and walks the dog. There is always something insignificant or enormous to think about. She talks to herself, pissed off about what someone said or reliving the touch of a hand. She walks past someone on the road and they don’t say hello, or they stop and talk. The politician has had yet another dangerously idiotic rant, it’s on the news, over and over. She wants to walk out of her life. She loves her life right now, today.

On June 1st 2019 she made a quick, necessarily bad (not to set the bar too high) collage and pencil image which declared NO EXIT. We were in the throes of Brexit at that point. Who knew what was coming next. Life was up and down, maybe things were starting to fall apart. It wasn’t easy to talk about any of it but she could make one small drawing a day and no one would particularly notice what was going on. Admittedly they were posted on instagram every day so there was a chance that they might scratch an itch somewhere. They scratched hers anyway.

Out of nowhere the only news is the Virus. Talk of Brexit has almost stopped. We’re not allowed to touch, see or breathe each other. Old people and young people are in limbo. No one really knows what’s going on. Still the nutter keeps ranting. She keeps on drawing. They’ve got a rhythm by now, sometimes they’re a bit crap but every now and then she really likes one.

Time stretches backwards as well as forwards, it’s better to look at it this way.
