The New Curators are delighted to present 'TOAST', a group show including
works by Andy Black, Andrew Crane, Debra Fear, Jade Blood, Karen Thompson and Louise Winter. Removing the art works from their disciplinary categories, the exhibition creates a space for genuine experience to take place between viewer and object, unsullied by the long-established discourse surrounding the gallery space.
About
As art practitioners themselves, the nature of the gallery space and the interaction between viewer and art work are interests that are current throughout each of the New Curators’ personal practices. Given free reign of the gallery this quickly surfaced as a focus of the exhibition.
Through working with the artists to re-appropriate the artworks, they hope to create space for genuine experience to occur between viewer and object – unsullied by the long-established discourse surrounding the gallery space.
New curators is a new project initiated by the School House Gallery in partnership with York St John University, with the aim of providing professional curatorial experience to the next generations of young artists.
