About

On the First Thursday of every month, over 130 galleries and museums in East London come together and run free events, talks, workshops, private views and exhibitions, during a special late opening until 9pm. The Residence Gallery presents a quartet of large watercolours by Robert Hawkins, bringing together four narratives previously explored by him into one dazzling consolidated work. Each 4-foot-square painting depicts a different vignette expressing the theme of man's quest for domination, the Power Over Nature; a Circus Grande Finale, a Hunting Scene, a Taxidermy Shop, and a Burning Wax Museum. Each panel contains on average 100 animal, human, and/or wax figures. Most people don't know how hard it is to paint 64 square feet of watercolour without making any mistakes. I do. It's just about impossible.", says Robert Hawkins, who plays him.
