ifa-Galerie Berlin has chosen to use the moment of motionlessness in the pandemic to place work from the ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) collection in new contexts.
Now especially, the disturbing and touching works by Rebecca Horn gain a new significance. The installation ›Time Goes By‹ (also the title of the exhibition) refers to the central link between sculpture and film. In her performances, films, and sculptures, Horn creates a space between life and death, the past and the future, the past and future, inside and outside.
Horn has not only shaped the next generation of artists, but actively sought to engage in dialogue with them. The exhibition presents an intergenerational dialogue between the artist Antonio Paucar (Berlin and Huancayo, Peru), who was her master student in 2005. Paucar explores the fragile natures and powerful experiences of the human body in his performances, moving through private, public, and political spaces that are culturally and symbolically charged.
