About

Hayward has developed a highly individual and imaginative form of wildlife painting. The animals in his works are brought to life by his unique sense of design, humorous character portrayals, and playful interaction between the subjects and their surroundings. His subtlety in rendering textures in watercolour and gouache, and accuracy of line and form demonstrate a lifetime's study and fascination with wildlife. Tim Hayward (b.1952) lives and works in Devon. This will be his sixth exhibition at the gallery. He spent the first half of his career painting depictions of wildlife for national and international publishers and produced work for The Natural History Museum and R.S.P.B. Although still accurate enough to render service to science, he is primarily an imaginative artist who invents the way his subjects are perceived. His work is held in many private collections including those of Lord Salisbury and the Duchess of Richmond.
