Pocko Gallery proudly presents a new solo
exhibition by Japanese artist, illustrator, and
animator Nomoco (Kazuko Nomoto). Through the
Window reflects on the fragility, resilience, and
impermanence of the natural world.
About
With gentle awareness, Nomoco encourages a
deeper connection to the environment, drawing
from the intimate experience of being surrounded
by trees to reflect on time, memory. Known for her
delicate, fluid ink works and playful
experimentation with colour, she invites visitors
into the shifting landscapes she observes — and
imagines — from the view of her window in
London.
The hero image of the show, a luminous
arrangement of tree-like forms in layered washes
of watery colours, reflects her fascination with
repetition, subtle variation, and the organic
dance between control and chance. With these
new works, Through the Window explores themes of
stillness, tension, and gentle movement — the
feeling of being inside a box, yet voyaging fluidly
through colour and shape.
Nomoco’s international client list includes:
Assouline, Penguin Books, Marc Jacobs,
Moschino, and Harper Collins. Her artistic
practice spans silkscreen, lithography, and
animation, all while retaining the delicate
spontaneity of ink on paper.
