After an introduction to the software/hardware involved. Participants will be guided into using miscellaneous sensors to interface with their own granular synthesis algorithm and start working on their own interactive pieces. No further programming or other experienced is assumed. It is essential that you bring your own laptop and a pair of headphones. IF YOU CHOSE TO BRING YOUR OWN MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED: an arduino board; a breadboard; jumpers; resistors; and whatever analogue sensor interest you: accelerometer; thermistors; photo-resistors; piezo-transducers; soft-pots; flex; tilt, etc. Unfortunately, there will be no extra materials available if you forget your materials! Workshop Leader Biography: Active internationally in both academic and non academic milieux, Marinos Koutsomichalis has been working as an artist since the mid '00s using a variety of mediums. He is primary interested in sound. Hitherto, he has performed and exhibited works internationally in acclaimed galleries, academias, festivals, churches, independent venues, etc and has released albums in a variety of labels. He has collaborated with Z'EV, Francisco Lopez, Robin McGinley, Marc Behrens, Kasper T. Toeplitz and others on numerous projects. Marinos is also Founder of, and Director at, Agxivatein. He has lectured at the Technical University of Crete and at the Centre of Contemporary Music Research (KSYME).
