About

The work of Thomas Scheibitz includes painting, sculpture, and drawing. It contemplates the pictorial possibilities of abstraction and figuration, the categorisation of which the artist dissolves in his own visual language. Scheibitz’s investigations focus on the interrelation of visual and linguistic information, which he derives, for example, from elements of architecture and nature or the imagery of media, advertising, and comics. With "Plateau und Halbfigur", Thomas Scheibitz will realise his largest sculptural work ever in the Boiler House at the KINDL.Following the Swiss artist Roman Signer, the Belgian David Claerbout, and the South Korean Haegue Yang, from September 2018 he will continue the series of artists who have developed a site-specific work for this spectacular exhibition space. With a height of twenty metres, the cube-shaped Boiler House is a unique exhibition venue in Berlin that has attracted international attention.
