This work, commissioned for the MMCA in January 2019, is an 11 digit Korean edition of the 7 digit UK work, displaying its value not in pounds, but Korean Won. It has just returned from South Korea and is having a first UK show at the V&A in London. Spanning over 7 meters long, with over 120 pieces of neon and packed with complex computer equipment, algorithms called “the endorsers” continually calculate and display the price of the artwork in real time. This sentient work was built, programmed and nurtured solely by women in order to challenge the inherent and algorithmic biases in our world.
"This Much I’m Worth (The self-evaluating artwork), UK Version, 2017, states its function clearly and with humour: it is an artwork that presents its own fluctuating value. [...] it is a comment on the excessive importance placed on market value and questions the parameters that are established to calculate this." .. Whitechapel Gallery, 2017, in the London Open Catalogue.
