About
This is woven tapestry!
Exhibition at the Hepsibah Gallery, 112 Brackenbury Road, Hammersmith,
18 – 24 June 2015
This is woven tapestry! is an exciting new exhibition of contemporary tapestry weaving from BTG London (the London branch of the British Tapestry Group).
The exhibition aims to show what tapestry is and what it can encompass. Often mistaken for needlepoint, hand woven tapestry is the art of using weft-faced weaving to express a range of images, emotions and ideas in material form. Whatever you thought tapestry was, prepare to be surprised and amazed.
The exhibition opens with the private view on Thursday 18 June, 6 -9 pm and then daily 11 – 6 (except for Sunday when it closes at 4 pm) until Wednesday 24 June.
BTG London has been in existence for 2 years and has some 15 artist members. This exhibition comes hard on the heels of the small “taster” exhibition held this January at the Handweavers’ Studio, Finsbury Park, London.
