The Young Masters Art Prize, 2012

About

The Young Masters Art Prize 2012; a not-for-profit initiative featuring emerging and newly established artists who are inspired by the work of the Old Masters.
Each artist references an element of the established through technique, imagery or subject, whilst establishing a contemporary spin on highly revered paintings. This is the second award since 2009, it is a bi-annual project created by American gallerist Cynthia Corbett.
The award itself has some very exciting young artists including Derrick Santini and Christoph Steinmeyer; who are all being judged by a seven strong judging panel:
- Godfrey Barker, art historian and journalist (chair)
- Colin Wiggins (National Gallery, British Museum etc.)
- Roy Bolton (Christies, Sphinx Gallery and BBC2 Show Me The Monet)
- Adam Dant (winner Jerwood Drawing Prize 2002, V&A, MoMA, etc.)
- Alain Servais (E.Art.T and European Art Collector)
- Anke Adler-Slottke (Christies, opening Christies New Markets in 80s)
- Ghosts of a Dream (Husband/wife art duo who won Young Masters in 2009).
In addition to this - the final exhibition will also feature some very special guest artists - Ali Assaf, Yinka Shonibare MBE and Lluis Barba
The winner will win a cash prize of £5,000.
