About

Louise Thomas | Jane Wildgoose | Owen Bullett | Elizabeth Jordan | Caroline Underwood | Perienne Christian | James Pimperton | Alex Carr | Andrew Pellenà‚ | Jonathan Stubbs | Alex Brenchley | Hannah Turner-Duffin | Gaetan Sigonney | Sabine Maurer | Nathaniel Pimlott | Alexis Soul-Gray | Ben Barbour | Fabienne Khial | Lucy Mellor | Sam Marshall | Chris Taylor For three days and three nights this Christmas time, the vast cavernous vaults of the historic and legendary ruined mansion Copped Hallà‚ in Epping Forest will be fully opened for the first major exhibition of contemporary art on site.à‚  Curated by artist Alexis Soul-Gray and A Plan Projects founder Catherine Bagg, The Winter's Wayzgoose will feature exciting new works by 21 emerging and established artists. Fact and fiction will collide in this celebration of monument and regeneration. Each artist's work will explore an aspect of the hall's rich history, from the first performance of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream of 1594 in the grounds of the house to the disastrous fire one Sunday morning in 1917, which left the building devastated. Through painting, sculpture, print and light, lost interiors will be resurrected, fragments of Elizabethan decoration will manifest and new myths will be created. Copped Hall lay in an ever increasing state of dilapidation for over eight decades until it was rescued by a Trust of local people committed to its preservation. In support of the Copped Hall Trust 30% of sales on all exhibited works, including prints and editions, will be donated towards ongoing restoration.
