Because We're Worth It

About

The Wellcome Trust and Sir John Tusa explore the relationship between science and the arts in a live panel debate on 28th July, 7.00-8.30pm. Chaired by Sir John Tusa, the panel will include leading sociologist and author Richard Sennett, space scientist Monica Grady and choreographer Siobhan Davies. It might make a good feature with all relevant parties giving their view on the topic. Looking back at the traditional divide between the two fields, the panel will consider how far we have moved on from C.P. Snow's devastating critique of Britain's divided intellectual culture, and discuss what the future holds for the relationship today. In the context of the current funding crisis, they will explore different ideas of value, how this can be measured, and whose role it should be to nurture and support science and art in a civilized society
