‘My focus is on mark making, gesture, colour, and the relationship of these elements to language; navigating the space between the poetic, what can be done with paint or digital imagery, and what is subsequently seen.

Although not strictly worked on in series, there is a dialogue that begins or ends each work and that runs through the body of work as a whole. The through-line would be 'what’s happening right now', the world and life events resonant at the time of working. The result is the trace of the process, in some sense an arrival, the beginning of a new experience with the work being viewed.‘

The paintings are a thought process; driven and reflective… Documenting physical and psychological presence, investigating the communicative function of colour and form as a reaction.

My process is organic, beginning the paintings with gestural brush marks, impulsive scrawling and graffiti. Layers are introduced in stages and the direction of the painting is informed and influenced by each previous mark and colour. They are suggestive in possibilities and provide some insight into the sensation experienced while creating the works.’
