The Square Gallery is pleased to present its Autumn Exhibition, featuring video work from the 10 artists short listed for The Open Prize 2010, alongside work from Jemma Grundon, Dan Parry-Jones and Ian Scammell.
The Open Prize 2010 Short List
Alexander Bates, Alexandra Hughes, Jasmina Metwaly, Karolina Raczynska, Marc Atkinson, Michael Lightborne, Olwen Coughlan, Rita Ribas, Robert Dixon and Valentina Ferrandes.
Launched in the autumn of 2009 by Open Gallery, the Open Prize for video painting set out to uncover excellence in video painting, and celebrate the work of young video artists working within this new medium. The gallery received in excess of 300 submissions which were narrowed down to a short list of 10. The work of these 10 artists was shown in a major central London exhibition during July 2010.
The short list was judged by Ziba Ardalan [Parasol Unit], Marc Valli [Elephant Magazine] and Hilary Lawson [Open Gallery], and the winner announced at a packed private view attended by over 500 people including representatives from several major UK galleries and members of the international art press.
