Inspired by the emerging field of Crossmodalism The Sonic Sensorium explores the interaction of the senses, pairing music and sound, to taste and aroma, creating an all-encompassing sensual experience.

About

The Sonic Sensorium is a concert and tasting menu that takes the work of three live musicians and couples them with a matching menu of tastes, cocktails and scents, created by award-winning Food Historian and Artist, Tasha Marks in collaboration with art collective, Acrylicize. Join us in the hidden New York loft-style venue of Studio 7 Shoreditch, neighbouring the Acrylicize studios.

AVM Curiosities, has been exploring the relationship between art and food through a series of high-calibre events and edible interventions since 2011. Founded by award-winning food historian Tasha Marks, (Grey Goose Iconoclast of Taste 2013, Selfridges Bright Young Thing 2013 and Young British Foodie 2013 – Experiential Finalist) AVM Curiosities champions the use of food as an artistic medium, with projects ranging from museum-style exhibitions and sculptural installations to interactive lectures and limited-edition confectionery.

Vanity Fair calls AVM Curiosities ‘London at it’s crazy-best’, while London store Sick-Note describe Tasha’s work as ‘the love child of Leonardo Da Vinci, Willy Wonka and Ferran Adria.’Previous patrons have included the Royal Academy of Art, Victoria & Albert Museum, The National Trust and Selfridges - each of these projects eventuating in a unique and sensory art experience.

In addition to a passion for chamber music, Shir enjoys curating multi-sensory fine dining experiences merging her love of new music, 20th century art, and culinary art. Shir plays a 1772 Nicolo Gagliano violin.

Mario Bakuna | CREATIVE COCKTAIL
Mario Bakuna is a London-based Brazilian composer, singer and guitar player, with over fifteen years of professional experience. He is a graduate of the Free University of Music in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Whilst there he studied with musicians such as: Olmir Stocker, Roberto Sion and Roberto Bomilcar (pianist who played with Frank Sinatra during his visit to Brazil). His study focusses on the development of an instrumental music repertoire; inspired by the greats of Jazz and Bossa Nova. In addition to developing new arrangements of music by enshrined Brazilian artists as Tom Jobim, Paulo Moura, and João Donato, in recent years he has been focussing to reinterpretations of Samba Jazz - a music that emerged in Rio de Janeiro in the 50s and was pioneered by musicians like Luiz Eça, Tamba Trio, Edson Machado, among others. Their repertoire was based on Brazilian standards with more sophisticated harmonies, inspired on the post-Bossa Nova movement.
