About
Joe Richardson works between sculpture, video and collage to study existential absurdities. His works deal with anxiety surrounding success and the performance of ‘masculinity’. Richardson is a Central Saint Martins, MA Fine Art Graduate (2018). Richardson’s works operate as commentators, facades, and stages questioning whether failure can provide cathartic liberation from an obsession with success. Richardson has completed residencies in Beijing, China and Stokkoya, Norway. He recently exhibited at the Royal Academy’s Weston Studio, the Koppel Projects, and at Apthorp Gallery. He is a recipient of both the Red Mansion Art Prize and the Cass Art Prize. In 2019, Richardson received a commission from Universal Music Group and a series of his videos are on permanent display at Four Pancras Square.
