An exhibition exploring how abstract artists rejected traditional forms of representation, and transformed the material world into shapes, lines and colours.
About
This exhibition will explore how abstract artists rejected traditional forms of representation, and transformed the material world into shapes, lines and colours, developing a language of abstraction, enabling them to express their ideas, values and principles through nonconformist means. Drawing on work by artists from The Seven and Five Society, The Crypt Group, Unit One and the Penwith Society of Arts, the exhibition will feature works by Henry Moore, John Piper, Patrick Heron, Bryan Wynter, John Armstrong, Edward Burra, Barbara Hepworth, Bridget Riley and Ben Nicholson.
