Another eventful night of the gallery’s classic East meets West introductions to Art. In a celebratory nod to the recent lunar calendar event of the February New Year’s celebrations across East Asia, this gallery celebration embraces the spring time festivities a month into this Year of the Monkey.
About
In a nod to what is now becoming Victoria Wang Gallery custom, from the gallery’s series of international partnerships and outings in the past year alone. To now this next group exhibition: ‘Monkey King’ and its’ embrace of the recent Lunar calendar turn into the February New Year’s celebrations across East Asia, this gallery exhibition embraces the spring time festivities a month into this Year of the Monkey.
This March the gallery delves into a cultural odyssey of works that travel in-depth into Artistic Traditions from East Asia, China, replicating to some effect the journey undertaken by the exhibition’s protagonist a ‘Monkey King’ and also one of literary China’s most venerated characters. The Monkey King takes the perilous journey from East to West in the classical novel ‘Journey to the West’.
