A display of work created by participants of The Repair Centre; a group of individuals in recovery.
About
Join us at Manchester Craft and Design Centre, where we’ll be sharing some of the work created by participants of The Repair Centre! Over a series of artist led workshops, people in recovery from substance use have explored recovery as a transformative process through creative acts of renewal and self-repair. This pop-up event invites you to learn more about our creative mending project, inspired by Kintsugi - an ancient form of Japanese ceramic repair. The project has worked across materials, including ceramics, textiles, wood and paper.
Kintsugi philosophy evidences that something new, useful, and more interesting can come out of damage, loss and change. This notion may be paralleled in the stories of people in recovery, but society does not always value those who have experienced these reconstructive, mending processes.
Meet members of the project who will be making in the space, and adding new pieces to the exhibition over the two-day event.
