The title draws reference to a quote by Zora Neale Hurston; and yet, has been used by comedian Steve Martin for his autobiography. That duality is relevant to work in the exhibit; that embraces a spectrum of joy and reflection across different mediums — such as painting, sculpture, and multimedia installations. These artists reaffirm the need for self-empowerment, family lineage, and communal storytelling.
