About
The Northerner was born into a family of miners based in the North of England.
He drew his inspiration from the mines and miners in the local area.
The Northerners inspiration is the miners, dockers and heavy industry of the North. He admires the works of Norman Cornish, Theodore Major and John Thompson just to name a few.
Working in charcoal, he feels the drawings have a connection with the materials his father and grandfather mined from the ground.
Although the subject matter has been depicted time and time again, the Northerner feels his latest releases offer a unique insight into the real working lives of the miners.
