The University of Northampton’s Fine Arts department are hoping to find Northampton’s brightest young artistic talent by holding a Schools Art competition open to sixth form pupils across the county.

About

The University of Northampton’s Fine Art team presents its first annual Northamptonshire Schools Art Competition, which has seen sixth form students from across the county and surrounding areas battling for over £3000 of prize money.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, commercial furniture manufacturers Ocee Design and the Vice Chancellor of The University of Northampton, we have been able to offer substantial prizes across three categories; the Ocee prize for Drawing, the Vice Chancellor’s prize for Fine Art, and The School of The Arts prize for Digital and New Media.

Dr Ralph Darbyshire, Subject Leader for Fine Art at the University of Northampton, commented: “This annual competition is intended to reinforce the School of The Arts at The University of Northampton as being a natural haven  for creative energy in and around Northamptonshire. Schools are our essential partners and collaborators and we want to illustrate our support and commitment to those pupils and teachers who find ways to demonstrate their artistic passions in circumstances that can at times be anything but ideal or conducive.”

The winners and other selected entries will be displayed in a public exhibition at the University’s Avenue Gallery from 12-21 January 2015, open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm.
