About

How, in an era characterised by globalisation, migration and a rampant technical development, do we perceive ourselves and each other as human beings? How do we value, organise and control one another? The New Human is an extensive, video based exhibition project that explores our human condition in a rapidly changing world.

This exhibition asks vital questions about our contemporary times, and offers glimpses into different possible futures. It confronts us with images of people who have been forced to leave their homes, and who are now trying to get past Europe’s barbed-wire borders, in the hope of finding safety and compassion. But it also presents us with a different kind of human creatures, who appear to have mutated with communication technology, hyperconsumption and corporate culture into something that looks human on the surface but is profoundly inhuman. Subjects such as migration, globalisation and technical progress converge in this exhibition, which centres on the current condition and future of mankind.

The exhibition features works by: Ed Atkins, Robert Boyd, Kerstin Hamilton, Daria Martin, Ursula Mayer, Santiago Mostyn, Tomáš Rafa, Frances Stark, Hito Steyerl, and Ryan Trecartin.
