Blue Shop Cottage presents an exhibition of paintings by Maddie Rose Hills
About
The exhibition of work by Maddie Rose Hills features a new series of miniature landscape paintings & a selection of limited edition fine art prints. Alongside these are two un-exhibited large paintings, one of which will be created in the space the day before the exhibition. From delicate landscapes to large canvases, the work embodies her love of paint as a material & the landscape as subject matter.
The title of the show comes from a song by Scottish Celtic rock band, Runrig, in which they sing about Loch Maree in Scotland, a place she has been visiting and painting for many years. Each painted landscape depicts a place close to her heart, whether visited once, or for the past ten years. It's the process of painting the landscape from memory that gives the work its elusive, hazy style. Each work is titled after something that she remembers specifically about that place.
Currently midway through a series, the exhibition offers a more intimate viewing experience, not showing a final edit but turning the spotlight on the moments that are normally kept inside the studio.
