The London Group Open Exhbition 2011

About

This autumn The London Group will celebrate its 98th year by again staging its popular biennial Open Exhibition. This will be a large two part show at The Cello Factory in Waterloo, with work by over one hundred and forty artists, at least half of which will be selected from submissions from non-members of the Group. This combination of up-and-coming and established professional artists is a longstanding tradition of The London Group Open and gives the show a unique flavour. The two part exhibition will take place at The Cello Factory, 33-34 Cornwall Road, Waterloo, London, SE1 8TJ from Thursday 20 October until 10 November. This year's selectors are Jenni Lomax, director of Camden Arts Centre and William Feaver the art critic, painter and broadcaster, who will also judge the winners of eight separate prizes, totalling over £4,000 in value. In keeping with the radical tradition of The London Group, visual art in any medium is eligible, embracing new technology, performance, photography, video and as well as the more traditional media. Well known Group members include Frank Bowling, Jeff Lowe, Bert Irvin and Dame Paula Rego and guest exhibitors invited to show this year include Gillian Ayres, Tim Head and Richard Wilson.
