About

Current members of The London Group of artists fill the National Trust's Mottisfont site with paintings, video, photography, sculpture and performance art to celebrate the group's centenary this year. Their works sit next those of famous predecessors such as Walter Sickert, Graham Sutherland, Roger Fry, Henri Gaudier-Brzeska and Vanessa Bell. Mottisfont was chosen for this important exhibition because it houses the Derek Hill Collection, which includes the work of London Group artists, and because it was here that many of them spent weekends as guests of the enigmatic Maud Russell. The show provides a unique chance to see work by these world-class contemporary and historic artists in a setting that has close connections to them.
