'Tidal Shame' by Yorkshire based artist Gail Dooley is the third sculpture to be installed on The Liverpool Plinth.
About
The 3rd sculpture to be installed on the Plinth, at Liverpool Parish Church, depicts a gannet, a seabird common in Liverpool, entangled in sea plastric and authentic maritime detritus. The work is designed to raise the profile of the damage of sea plastic and waste to maritime life.
Much of the plastic on the artwork was collected along the Merseyside coastline.
The Liverpool Plinth is an annual sculpture competition, managed by Liverpool BID Company, dot-art and Liverpool Parish Church. It seeks a Northern sculptor to have have their work exhibited on the Plinth for 12 months. The successful artist, chosen by a panel, is awarded £1000.
