On December 10th The Life Drawing Gymnasia present a intimate drawing workshop at POPHUB Leicester Square giving beginners to advance creatives a training ground to hone their skills.
About
The Gymnasia Project , devised and directed by Andrew Crayford has toured various London galleries and art centres since it began in 2015. Exploring the role of the muse through the artistic process.Recent ongoing residencies include Candid Arts, Islington, Art House Studios, Ealing and Barons Court Theatre.
Gymnasia's spellbinding theatrical life drawing session incorporates a performance aspect with movement and acrobatic dance inspired poses that has never been seen before.
The first half is one hour long and is improvised in keeping with its themes of ancient greek Gymnasia nude exercise and flamenco dance. Single yoga inspired male poses are struck whilst a female dancer moves gracefully around him. Next choreographed lifting poses are executed and held for between 2 and 5 minutes with more response poses and movement in between. The poses are un-timed organic and fluid allowing the models complete creative integrity and self expression. This is designed to accommodate swift gestural drawing.
The second half is 45 minutes long and comprises of two twenty minute poses inspired by greek mythology. These poses are timed and are aimed at relaxed and more detailed drawing.
Drawing boards, paper and basic materials is provided, experience is not necessary.
Artists are welcome to bring materials and experiment how they like.
