A panel discussion addressing the influence of the late punk pioneer Malcolm McLaren and his relevance to contemporary fashion design.

About

A panel discussion chaired by Malcolm McLaren’s long-term partner Young Kim, featuring writer Paul Gorman, fashion designer Kim Jones and magazine editor Ben Reardon, addressing the influence of the late punk pioneer Malcolm McLaren and his relevance to contemporary fashion design.

This coincides with the publication of Man About Town issue SS 16 which includes a major feature by Alasdair McLellan and prominent stylist Olivier Rizzo tracing Malcolm McLaren’s lifelong forays into fashion design, drawing on the extensive archive of rare and one-off pieces, some owned and worn by the late cultural iconoclast.

This is part one of a two-part event examining the influence of Malcolm McLaren, locating him as a leading visual artist whose influence can be detected across contemporary culture. The Legacy of Malcolm McLaren: The Art takes place at 1pm on Sat 21 May.

The event is followed by a launch of Man About Town Issue SS/16 in the ICA Bar in partnership with IDEA Books.

With special thanks to the Malcolm McLaren Estate.
