“The Lake House” is a visual examination of the past through a series of digital collages and colorful, unique prints, whereby personal history becomes an abstraction formed with the tools of the present.
About
“The Lake House” is a visual examination of the past. It describes a physical and symbolic meeting place for a family, the origins of which can only be gleaned through the foggy lens of memories and shared stories. The place is a thread connecting people who will never meet, and which keeps them tied to those they’ve known and lost.
The exhibition is comprised of a series of digital collages based on a century of family photos from Keuka Lake, New York, USA. Their combination with and juxtaposition to a kaleidoscopic array of colorful, abstract prints of strange and familiar objects emphasizes the abstracting quality of the past, which can only be experienced as part of the present.
