Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop is proud to present “The Invitational I”, an exhibition celebrating artists from our residency programmes. The exhibition will be on view from 11 December 2020-9 January 2021.

About

Please join us for the opening day on Friday, 11 December from 11-9pm. Bookings can be made here from Tuesday-Saturdays, 11am-5pm through our website.

Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop has invited all their previous resident artists from the prestigious Solo Residency, the dynamic  Radical Residency®️ and the brand new Duo Residency to take part in “The Invitational I”, a group exhibition selected by our hero at Gasworks/Triangle Network — Alessio Antoniolli — to celebrate the remarkable people that make us who we are, that fill our gallery, our social media and our website with phenomenally rich content and bring joy to the hearts of the public and our organisation. We put the artist first and it is through our residency programmes we have had the distinct privilege to meet and work with so many of them. What better way to end this complex and difficult year than on a very high note of giving credit to the wonderful people we applaud and commit to?

The participating artists for “The Invitational I” are: Alexia Laferté Coutu, Anna Kenneally, Anna Lytridou, Ant Hamlyn, Bianca Barandun, Charles Laib Bitton, Connie Harrison, Diane Chappalley, Dominic Till, Gwenyth Fugard, Henry Tyrrell, Inês Neto dos Santos, Jan Pan Chan, Javier Torras, José Carlos Naranjo, Julia Court, Juliette Dominati, Karen Thomas, Lewis Davidson, Marco Bizzarri, Marianne Walker, Mirra Goldfrad, Navot Miller, Paula Baader, Poppy Whatmore, Sam Carvosso, Sanne Vaassen, Sarah Dwyer, Shinuk Suh, Sooim Jeong, Thomas Garnon, Tobias Becker, Yu Ting Ong, Tarek Sebastian Al-Shammaa and Daniel Solomons.

About Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop and the Workshop Foundation:

Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop is an exhibition and residency space in London and unique in its approach to bringing artists and their practices to the public. They support a diverse range of emerging and mid-career contemporary artists by providing them with space and time to develop their practice, network within our growing community, be mentored by team members and crucially be introduced to their expansive network of collectors, art educators, professionals and visitors.

Through their residency programmes and exhibitions, they give artists, curators and theorists a platform to present work and share ideas as well as creating an environment for freethinking and exchange.

They have now organised more than 40 exhibitions with over 120 artists and curators, with 10 exhibitions and 23 artists in residence a year, drawing in international audiences and participants, as well as being a local landmark in the community of Kensington and Chelsea and its surrounds.

Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop was founded in 2015 by artist Stacie McCormick in a former builder’s merchant.
