Practicing artist, Dean of Bath Spa, founder and director of Jerwood Drawing (now Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing) Prize and founder director of Drawing Projects UK is coming to the old Art School in Stroud to talk about drawing in the widest sense.

About

Anita Taylor is an elegant and clear speaker on the fundamental discipline of drawing and its importance for contemporary artists working across multiple practices.

Anita’s large scale charcoal drawings reveal an extraordinary physicality, an investment in mark making and the trace of the human hand. She examines the uncomfortable relationship with the reflected self in her use of mirror, ground and materials making a visual equivalent to the physical experience of looking and feeling.

Anita will present an illustrated talk about how artists document the world through drawing, and the open dialogue about what drawing can be in communicating a visual language which carries knowledge, understanding and feeling.
