Blue Planet 2 played a huge role in shifting political and public attention towards important issues concerning global shipping routes and plastic pollution on the planet and its adverse effect on wild life. New legislation is now being introduced to help to address this problem and impact behaviour.
The collective creation of a map encourages observational and creative acts that require the processing of local, geographical, physical information. In this workshop, participants will be asked to imagine Antarctica and try to make sense of it as a physical environment. Through a creative examination of a selection of items on display, participants will use frozen inks combined with salt to create a large-scale representation of the topography and geology of the Antarctic continent explored by Scott and Wilson.
Making in Transit is an on-going arts and research project. We aim to unpack the cultural, material, philosophical, scientific and environmental implications of the anthropocene and make sense of our current epoch.
