A Pre-Exhibition for The Hybrid Supper

About

The Hybrid Supper Project is a charitable dining event celebrating refugees who have been directly responsible for creating some of the high points of British Design. Examples include Alec Issigonis, a refugee from Smyrna who designed the classic Mini car in 1963, Eva Jiricna, a refugee from the Czech Republic who designed the Joseph Fashion stores and Misha Black who helped define transport and corporate identities in postwar Britain. As part of the Hybrid Supper Project, contemporary design elements have been commissioned from contemporary designers and will be for sale through DesignMarketo with a percentage of the profits to go the Refugee Council prior to 15 July. Designers include Glass Hill, RARA and Practice + Theory with a food workshop for children hosted by Arabeschi di Latte, Sunday 26 June. The exhibition and workshop will take place at _So Far, the Future, off of Lamb's Conduit Street. The Hybrid Supper Project will take place as part Refugee Week with profits being donated to the Refugee Council in commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention. The Hybrid Supper Project is organised by Kingston University to celebrate ten years of the MA Curating Contemporary Design in partnership with the Design Museum. Curated by Haptic Thought. Each ingredient has a story to tell and participants will be invited to share stories and recipes based on those ingredients. Like in a ‘jam session', there is no defined recipe. We ask participants to sit together and discuss and choose the ingredients they want to use to prepare their own jam. Please RSVP to hello@hapticthought.com AGES 6-11 Parents Welcome
