For this exhibition, curated with Envoy Enterprises in New York, artists were asked to translate into visual form the ideas contained in the book, The Great Debate About Art by Roy Harris.
About
Featuring work by Ben Buswell, Srijon Chowdhury, Anne Doran, Zach Dougherty, Erika Keck and Rodrigo Valenzuela. The Great Debate About Art, written by recently-deceased Oxford University linguist Roy Harris, attempts to provide a response to the "historical residue of empty questions that contemporary society can no longer answer" after the modernist implosion of Art as a cohesive category. For this exhibition, curated in collaboration with Envoy Enterprises in New York, participating artists were asked to respond to and translate into visual form the wealth of ideas contained in the book. This allows the exhibition to bring together competing strains of intellectualized and aestheticized craft, while exchanging different solutions for the same context.
