In this exhibition of installation works, Susan Collis explores trompe l'oiel effects, utilising high craft skills to recreate apparently ordinary objects.A pair of overalls hung casually on the walls of The City Gallery, bespattered with drips of paint show the long history of wear that they have had. But look a liitle closer and the paint reveals itself to be elaborate embroidery.
At first glance The grand scheme of things has the appearance of a gallery space in disarray between exhibitions. However, on closer inspection visitors will be in for a few surprises, there are bejewelled walls, intricate embroideries, beautiful drawings .
