About
UWE student, Holly Webb has been working with LettUs Grow and Grow Bristol, who are two vertical farming companies in Bristol. Vertical farming is where plants are grown vertically using hydroponics, which is a method that uses a nutrient filled mist, which feeds the roots, as well as purple LED lighting. Vertical farming was introduced as an alternative, sustainable way to grow plants, which is especially good for urban areas, as space to grow plants can be limited.Holly became interested by the sustainability aspects, after learning this method uses 95% less water than traditional agricultural methods. Over the past few months Holly has been documenting the process of growth, and what the company does to ensure everything is running smoothly.
The photographs exhibited could be grouped: the farms, the plants, checking the plants/structures to make sure all is running efficiently and the workshop. Purple light and haze will recreate the plants growing environments in SPACE gallery, Old Market. Visit to view the images and find out more!
Date and opening times: Thursday 10th May 11am-9:30pm
